Most people who book this visit haven’t been in years. Some are embarrassed. Some already know something’s wrong and have been putting off hearing it out loud.
Here’s our promise, and we mean it literally: nobody will judge you for how long it’s been. Not Dr. Karim, not the hygienist, not the person who checks you in. You already know — that’s why you’re here. What you get instead is a plan: where you stand, what to fix, in what order, and what it costs. Then it’s your call.
What the $75 covers
$75 total. Not a deposit, not “starting at,” not a number that changes at the front desk. What you leave with:
- A custom treatment plan, in writing. Dr. Karim builds it himself: what needs attention now, what can wait, in what order, what each piece costs, and what to do at home to keep it from sliding back. This is the part that’s actually worth something.
- A full exam — teeth, gums, bite, and an oral cancer screening. This is how he builds the plan.
- All the X-rays you actually need — not a set number, whatever it takes to see what’s happening underneath.
What’s not included: a cleaning — and not as a bait-and-switch. Healthy gums need a routine cleaning; tartar below the gumline needs a deeper one that costs more. Quoting it before we look would mean guessing.
The plan is yours to keep either way — start that week, in six months, or take it for a second opinion. Nothing happens on day one you haven’t agreed to.
What your first visit actually looks like
Start to finish it runs 60 to 90 minutes. The whole thing, step by step:
- Check-in — 10 minutes. Health history and insurance info if you have it. We can text the forms ahead.
- X-rays — 10 minutes. Digital, low radiation, no film to bite down on. If you gag easily, tell us and we’ll work around it.
- The exam — 20 to 30 minutes. Dr. Karim goes tooth by tooth, checks your gums and bite, and screens for oral cancer, narrating as he goes so you’re not lying there wondering.
- The conversation — 15 to 20 minutes. You sit up, look at your own X-rays on screen, and Dr. Karim walks you through what he found and what he’d do about it.
- Your plan. Written out, in order, with cost estimates and insurance applied. You don’t have to schedule any of it that day.

Cost, insurance, and what if I don’t have any
If you have PPO insurance: we accept and file with Delta Dental, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, MetLife, and Guardian, and we work with most other PPO plans. Bring your card — we verify benefits before you’re in the chair, so your plan’s numbers already have coverage applied. We don’t take Medicaid or Medicare.
If you don’t have insurance: plenty of our patients don’t, and the price is the same either way. For ongoing care, our in-house membership plan is $300 a year — exams and X-rays for twelve months, a cleaning, and 25% off anything else. No deductibles, no annual cap, no waiting period, no claim to fight.
Bigger treatment: we offer CareCredit financing, with promotional terms for those who qualify.
And to say the quiet part out loud: we’re not going to upsell you. Dr. Karim’s plan separates what’s urgent from what’s optional and what can wait a year. Plenty of people leave with a plan that starts small.
Who you’ll actually see
Dr. Omar Karim, DMD. The only dentist at Teravista Dentistry — not one of six on a rotating schedule. He writes your plan himself, then carries it out himself. The person who examines you does your filling six weeks later and remembers, two years on, which tooth you were worried about — continuity a chain can’t give you.
